Hi,
Are you by any chance using ALE pin for some special puppose...?thats because the AUXR register by default in the AT89Sxx series are reset to 0x00,so the ALE always emits 1/6 the oscillator frequency...

Can you give more details



DISALE Disable/Enable ALE
DISALE Operating Mode
0 ALE is emitted at a constant rate of 1/6 the oscillator frequency
1 ALE is active only during a MOVX or MOVC instruction
