Okay, do you select "target device" as 55WD when compiling exactly? Do you indicate external memory address range for compiler? What is this address range from your circuit?
Now, you should know that 8952 has 8kB of internal flash program memory; 55WD has 20kB. So if you use MOVC for address range between 8...20kB then it will accept external program memory on 8952 but internal flash for 55WD.
