Drive the motor from your 50 volt supply but switch it full on and off with a PWM waveform. The motor will work better, you can gets lots of resolution, no need for any new circuits.....the darlington can go right to the PWM timer output pin. Easiest way to get PWM on an 8051 is to use a PCA channel or a TIMER2 that has the high speed output.
