A friend buy few moths ago a PCI card for PC with 2 serial and one parallel for about 10 Euros... then is cheap, you have a little protection (may be you break the card but not the matherboard)
My opinion is develop the system "in the system", buy the desired mcu (or one similar if is otp) and do the work on the system. You can check some parts on the parallel port or on a simulator, but the real system with real timings and real loads and real emc etc must be finished on the real system. |
