#5693 - RE: Thermometer with 8051
Erik,

The 00.0 to 99.9 resolution is no difficulty. I believed I mentioned previously that I did the same display resolution for a 24bit lookup value.

With a spreadsheet, you only have to work out the formula ONCE for one cell and then copy it into all the other case cells. It takes a only a few minutes to compose all cases in the spreadsheet.

I realize that use of a spreadsheet is not considered a normal tool of embedded programmers... but I consider it such. Its quite easy to do this with some spreadsheet expertise. You might seek out a friend that can help compose the table for all the possible 00.0 to 99.9 cases.

I utilize a special traversal algorithm to do the binary search very efficiently. But even the simple binary search of a list is very fast.

Remember too that the values in the tables are upper limit values so you are not looking for table entries to MATCH your ADC value. You are zeroing in on the entry who's limit is more than your value and who's neighbor limit is less than your value.
