#58275 - Have a look into actual datasheet!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hallo Janice,

besides all this stated by former repliers I would highly recommend you directly to jump into an actual datasheet. If you read those two datasheets

http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX...MAX189.pdf
http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX187EVKIT.pdf

very very carefully you can learn very very much!

MAX187 contains a full 12bit ADC, with track/hold stage and reference voltage, everything in a 8pin DIL-package! Advantage of serial ADCs is this very small number of pins. Disadvantage is, that it takes a bit longer to read out ADC, compared with parallel ADC. So, as always, it depends on your needs!

Second pdf-file shows a tested printed circuit board (PCB) layout, if you are not sure how to manage the layout...

Good luck,
Kai
