The tendency of some employers is to take the jobs to whoever will work for the least. That is a lesson you should never forget

I have worked for myself, contracted directly, contracted through agencies and currently am a regular employee - in other words tried it all. Every way has its advantages and disadvantages and it must be a personal choice what way to go.
