As mentioned before, door activity is not a conclusive indication of filling activity!

Vending machines record the number of products sold, but I have yet to see one that can tell how much stock it has.
Some machines can't even tell whether they have any stock at all - they just have a sensor to determine whether a product is actually dispensed as a result of a vend attempt; if not, they refund the money.
In fact, some machines - ones where you can actually see the stock - don't even do this. They just assume that the customer won't be so stupid as to select an obviously sold-out product!

Or am I missing something?


Yes - door opening is a Necessary condition for a refill, but not a Sufficient condition.
