That thread was closed before I could post, but you can achieve greater than 18 bits of accuracy. There are people building systems that are 20 bits accurate. Delta-Sigma converters work well in conjunction with a processor and it doesn't require the processor to be shut down since the sampling is synchronous. A SAR converter does need the processor to be shut down to get higher accuracy measurements. |
