Sorry Myhammad, but it depends on what you are switching to some extent. If you are just switching a resistive load on and off, and you are doing it at failry low rates, then a relay (+flywheel diode +snubber) will work well. If you are switching an inductive load, ans/or you are switching the load quickly, then you need to think very carefully. A Triac has difficulty switching OFF inductive loads, and you often find you need to use a very much bigger current rated triac than you expected to switch the load. Often TWO thyristors back to back work better. Steve Still in Cairo, with a pair of switching thyristors.... |
