Erik, I agree, having knowledge in both is obviously best. I'm heavy on the software side, but I could add a capacitor. I could probably even design some circuits--but that's not my "forté" and not the service that I market myself as being able to provide.

I agree, you can't be an effective embedded programmer without some knowledge of EE. And probably the reverse is true to some extent.
