#6081 - RE: The choice of career: |
aka J summed up my original thoughts very well.
Originally a programmer for 10+ years I have made the move toward EE. I am tired of chasing after and learning what new operating system functions are for what OS is hot. It takes many years of experience and not to mention the time to learn how windows xxx works. Everytime I turn around there is something new. For others that aren't into software engineering you must learn and use the OS functions or procedures. Sure once you know them it's easier but ask someone how long it takes to understand and use properly an OS like windows. If I could do the same thing over again I'd start with EE. Programmers are a dime a dozen now and expected to work long hours. For me it wasn't worth it. The future of opportunity looks better for EE. John |
