Receiving midi at 31250 Baud (not 32500) is a light job for a 8051 derivate but is the proccessing also a light task?

What do you mean by pitfalls? Things like running status,differences between XM en GS spec etc?

I don't want to make a one chip synthesizer, Bartosz. Just a synthesizer 'brain'.

So al I'm looking for is an example on how to process my RX buffer. How to determine what message is received, read the controller, read the value, etc.
