There is two kinds of abbreviations used here one being standard electronic abbreviations such as 'F' for farad and 'u' for micro. Those you will find in official electronic litterature and should thus be accepted in any case. The other kind is the "see how smart/cute/lazy I am" and those, which would never be used in any official text, should be totally banned.
