#61785 - RE: Universal Programmers - warning Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In case of Philips, they have shot themselves in the foot.
Get real, Kalpak Do you really think that Philips (or any other manufacturer) care if those that "can not affoard a programmer" do not buy their chips?. No one buying enough chips to matter for the manufacturer has a problem buying a programmer. For those that do have a problem affoarding a programmer Philips and others have plenty of ISP chips for which they give away all that is needed (FlashMagic, Flip etc). Too many derivatives and their peculiar programming deviations. Nope, how can there be "too many derivatives", the more the merrier. Those of us that actually buy some chips always look for "the perfect fit" and if a derivative comes out that either replaces an external component for less - or - the opposite, remove something we do not need and reduce the price we go for it. Also, every Philips family has the same programming algo e.g. P89C668 and P89C51RD2H program the same. Erik |
