But the professor wants a software solution
If a professor is involved, a solution not using a PCA has been suggested (here or at Keil) that will show his professor that it is possible without a PCA to code something that will theoritically work but not in real life (too slow).

As most professors (unfortunately) don't give a hoot whether it is practical, he can use that one.

If, however he is doing a real product, I suggest he follow the advice.
