The ULN2003 (sink)will be fine for driving the common cathodes. What arrangement have you made for driving the anode mux. Most 8051s do not have push pull outputs so you need a driver chip such as the UDN2585 (source) to buffer the port. If you are using P0 to drive the UDN2585 you will also generally need pull up resistors. |
