Then there is definitively something ineffective written in your software.

The 24C04 contain only 512 byte. And so at 100kbit you need only 10µs * 9 * 512 = 46msec to read it out completely.

46msec <-> 5000...6000msec

I have absolutely no idea where you waste the difference.


As RTC I use the DS1994, it works very nice.
