first of all: 128k of what? bits/bytes/whatever?
Now, there is NVRAM called FRAM (see http://www.ramtron.com/products/producthome.htm) - it is not so expensive as Maxim/Dallas RAM+litium combo-boxes. Moreover, some their products have PowerSV/RTC and more buit-in.
