#63884 - FET for disconnecting I/O line |
My electronics background isn't too strong at this point, so I'm seeking a bit of advicedirection.
My application has an 8051 input pin that is normally connected to a serial TTL "rx" output. The serial output of course toggles between 0 and 5 volts. I would like to "disconnect" this connection externally without resorting to using a mechanical switch or changing RS232-TTL converter ICs. So this device would normally be on (conducting) and I would want to use an additional I/O line to switch it off (disconnect). In the "on" state, i don't want it consuming execess current (more than a mA) and it needs to be cheap. I'm so confused as to if I should use a JFETMOSFET type device or what?!?! What is my cheapest option? Thanks for the edumacation! Mika |
