If you use GOOGLE, as I just did, and look for "lcd driver C HD44780" you get 3000+ hits.

The third search-result is all about a driver for HD44780 and linux. The fifth entry is about a driver using a pc-parallel port.

I think, although I am not actually fluent in "C", that it should be possible to adapt this to an 8051 wihout too much problems?


besides that, a lot depends on how the hardware is connected to the 8051.
