#6448 - RE: Code breaking, what kind of IC will help |
Hi,
there are some discussions about encryption and legal usage. These are 2 fully different things. So also copy of unencrypted data can be illegal, e.g. copy an audio CD and sell it. Also encryption can be illegal, e.g. the DVD mafia let me buy a DVD in USA and refuse to play it in my home country. And in my opinion, that I can buy a product and the producer let me not use it, is illegal. Only the legislator can forbit me the usage of some products (e.g. weapons). Yes, in most cases encryption was done to avoid unauthorized persons from doing illegal things. Hi Martin, there is a misunderstanding. FPGA's are used to make encryption and descryption very fast, but they contain only the algorithm, not the secret key. To crack the secret key, you need big knowledge about encryption. And the FPGA's can only assist on cracking e.g. with the brute force method. Peter |
