I wonder if the presumably longer time and higher expense associated with that highest engineering index dictate its use only on manned missions (i.e., Shuttle missions which, although they fail too, have not failed due to software problem [to my knowledge]). I'd hazard a guess that "lower standards" were used for the Mars Rover. Still, "lower standards" do not justify failure. |
