Google gives me tons of crap-sites ans I understand none of it.

hmmm searching google for
"AT commands and GSM." produced following link as first entry:

http://www.traud.de/gsm/

and this as 7th link:
http://www.dataip.co.uk/Reference...mmands.php

the latter page refers to the etsi web site, were you should be able to download the full ETS 300 642 standard.

I would say the above looks pretty relevant.

Martina's code uses a baudrate of 1200. Is this a fixed value for all GSM's? Or does it depend on the manufacturer and the type?

As far as I know, 9600 Bps is often used. It is possible that a GSM has an autobaud feature. The docs from the GNOKII project should be able to tell you more.
