#67267 - I have to ask a question.... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Do certain "off the shelf" cell phones have some type of remote control interface via their interface connectors?
I know that several of the PCS phones I have used have a cable connection for a serial port that can go to a PC for management of the contact names and numbers database on the PC screen as opposed to using the phone keypad and display. Maybe there are phones that extend this serial port capability to let a remote system perform auto dial and auto answer functions. If so, then Percival could consider just embedding an "off the shelf" phone into his project and tie the 8051 into the phone serial port. This should lead to a completely feasible implementation for a simple thing wherein he just wants to be able to have it call his house. Michael Karas |
