Maybe there are phones that extend this serial port capability to let a remote system perform auto dial and auto answer functions. There is a standard GSM 'AT' Command Set and, of course, each model will have its own extensions & limitations. If so, then Percival could consider just embedding an "off the shelf" phone into his project and tie the 8051 into the phone serial port. Absolutely - in fact, I'm sure such projects have been mentioned here before. |
