Thats absolutely right.
E.g. I found a very crazy behaviour on a Windows notebook. Sometimes it crashed exact at midnight.
Further research pointed, that the programmer of the real time clock was a dreadful dilettante.

Since the following time stamp was generated:

23:58
23:59
23:60 !!!
24:60 !!!
24:00 !!!
00:00
00:01
...

Disabling this driver removes the crash.
