The Z80 is alive and well. Zilog has kept this family alive with many new and powerful parts. The latest technology includes extensions to address 16MBytes of memory. These parts also have a nice complement of onboard peripherals. See here:

There is also this part in the family that includes support for a full TCP/IP stack!!
