There is no clear, unequivocal distinction between "MCU" (microcontroller) and "MPU" (microprocessor) - it is largely a matter of application rather than being a property of a particular device.

eg, Intel now consider the 8086, 80186, 80286, 80386, and 80486 to be microcontrollers!
