The features that appeal to the application are a JTAG port for initial programming (manufacturing doesn't have to keep track of programmed devices for multiple application programs), MCU update of the program via MCU serial port (field upgrade via a host PC), no external parts to memory map I/O, low parts count to achieve the above, low cost to achieve the above ($8 to $12). |
