I fully agree with John's view. While it will be convenient for you to source what you want from Mumbai, I would suggest that you deal only with authorised dealers for MCUs and such. Both references that John gave are quite good. The problem with over the counter vendors is one of quality - you never are sure. I am confident that you should be able to locate genuine dealers for Cygnal and Philips in the large Lamington market. I had visited this place quite a few years back and at that time the place was full of vendors dealing in hobby and consumer stuff - kits for digital clocks, audio amplifiers, surround sound pcbs, cable TV kits and the like. Do not know how it is now.

I am sure there will be dealers who only offer industrial grade components. Till I switched over to VFDs I used to source all my LCDs from Oriole there.
