About one and half year ago I migrated my products from Atmel AT89C51RC to P89c51RD2HBP.
We had purchased P89c51RDHBP @Rs.195/- (each) for a qty of 50 Nos at that time.
Till February 2004, we were getting these MCUs, with a price variation from Rs.160/- to Rs. 240/- each.
In Feb2004, we were told by our suppliers that this MCU is phased out Philips, and to use P89C51RD2BN. Which we have sucessfully migrated, and since then we are using P89C51RDBN (DIP Package).
We did a little more study and found that PLCC version of this IC i.e. P89C51RD2BA is easily available here. So for our future products we will be using the PLCC version. Another advantage with PLCC version is that, without PCB design you can use other philips MCUs such as P89C66X series (PLCC version) also. because all these are pin compatible with each other. By the way, P89c66x series is also available in Mumbai, you need to talk to the suppliers.
P89C51RD2BN (or P89C51RD2BA) are approx. Rs.225/- each. Remember the prices here are varying as the weather changes...(i.e. you cannot guarantee the prices, they keep on varying, In March 2004 the P89C51RD2BA was quoted to me @Rs.160/- each, now it is at Rs.225/- each).
