#71351 - Ethernet with 8051 and 8390 nic |
Ok... two problems, two posts... and yes, they are both on the same project... go figure...
I have a PILE of 8390 ethernet controller chips that I would love to use in a controller network throughout our animal rescue facility. What I need help on is a quick and dirty circuit to interface the 8390 to the 8051. I will be using 32 meg of ram with the 8390, but need a simple interface to do remote dma to the 8051 without sharing the ram... and a simple interface to deal with clocking the chip. It's companion chip uses a 20MHZ clock and I have this figured out... I just don't want to use a NIC card, but rather put it all on 1 board... Feel free to email me direct and even file attach the solution if you like. Thanks in advance! P.S.will be using both x10 (sort of) and ethernet (probably over the power lines also) in the design to monitor our many animals to insure we are there for them should something go wrong. There are 85 of them, each will have their own monitoring station dedicated and reporting back to a central controller in the house. This is not for commercial use or resale, but for a PRIVATE application, so any help will not be used for profit. |
