#71435 - RE: Ethernet with 8051 and 8390 nic
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Tried that... The problem is the 8390 is too o;d, and the only design I found was using a NIC card (ISA)
which wouldn't resolve the situation of 'Using What is On Hand' This is the key... I want to use materials I already have on hand... Perhaps when I feel like throwing away $65.00 a total of 90 times then I will use one of the readily availible options (which would be easier)...

I think what is happening here is that you all think I am uneducated (retired R&D man) or that this is for a single board... NOT!!! gee, wish it was! I am having to monitor about 85 animals in several zones with at least 32 channels per animal... then move the information to a central controller and eventually into the main server. Not too dificult, and pretty simple design with sensors being memory mapped as Xmemory so it can sit behind the ROM.
This is not a project that I will make any money on... it is for OUR Avian / animal rescue that we fund entirely out of our pockets... perhaps this will shine a light on why I am being too cheap to buy new, up to date, fancy parts although i would LOVE to!!!!!
