If you have a manufactured PCB there are techniques to "reverse engineer" the artwork. Regarding your question however (using pictures of a PCB), unless you are looking at a sufficiently high quality picture of a very, make that very or possibly even VERY, simple circuit board, no. Even if you can "rip" the outer layer you have a photograhp of, you will not be able to determine any of the inner layer characteristics. In fact, it is unlikely you would even be able to determine the number of layers with any real certainty (except perhaps with an extreme close up shot of an unusually squared and polished edge). And don't forget that without removing the components you will not know if there are any vias underneath them. Legality and ethics notwithstanding, just using photos to reverse engineer a PCB would be prohibitively impractical. |
