No problem. I too, was surprised by the lack of replies, and thinking that your post might be about what is good about C versus what is bad about C, but also in a bit of a hurry, thought I'd provide some stimulus by peeling away the first layer of the onion.

My comments were me just goofing off, since we know that (although there is nothing about the program that limits it to C51) a program like that compiled and either simulated or run in a target environment is not going to put one's computer at risk. But with all the buffer overrun exploitation nowadays, I couldn't help but pick up on the out-of-bounds error right off the bat (not that comms-filled buffers was the issue here at all).
