I have been asked for a designing a device which would count the number of rolled product produced In a hot rolling mill. The mill is a tandom type mill and my idea is to put some sensor at the exit of the last stand of the mill which would sense the product like angle, channel etc coming out of the stand and send a signal to an 8051 system which would count them and then do necessary mathematics to determine the total production of the day in terms of weight.
The speed of the product coming out of the last stand is 2.553 m/s. The temperature of the product coming out is approx 750 - 850 degree celcius. The prodcuts i.e. channels or angles produced are about 18 feets to 50 feets in length.
The major problem I am stuck up with is how to sense the object with above specified atributes. I request you all to provide me some sensor information for this purpose.
