1) I am facing a peculiar problem. I am using a DS1232 as a super for an 89c51RD2xx . I have connected the ALE to the strobe input as suggested in their application note.
When I disconnect the ALE from the strobe , I found that the RST is oscilating between 2.0 V and 4.9V,i.e. it is not a good clean reset , like I get if I if I use the push button or a brownout condition. Any clues why this could happen ? I am using a 12 MHz crystal.

Also what is an expected life for a 9V battery powered uC , used only for data acquisition with a flash EEPROM, back lit LCD( about 60 mA current ) ,RTC ? I find that my device runs for about 1.5 hours before the brownout detector steps in at about 4.3 volts.Is this normal ?
