Like I mentioned , I have disconnected the DS1232 RST from the micro's RST (so they should not be influencing each other) and still this happens.

Ah, sorry. I thought you had disconnected strobe input of DS1232.

Only explanation then for me seems to be that reset output driver of micro has been damaged with experimenting.
