"Vanilla" 8051 was designed with 12MHz clock in mind and anything above that is just overclocking (with all negative implications), but most modern '52 clones support clocks up to 24MHz and few - much more (or they use the cycles more efectively, like 1 instruction - 1 cycle, not standard 1 instruction - 12 cycles). |
