Some additional clarifications please :

When using the CKCON register to set the micro for 6 clocks , CKCON.0 =1 , is it also required to required to st CKCON.4 = 0 for 6 clocks of the UART ?

My feeling is that this is not required if we use mode 1 & 3 ( variable baud rate modes ).

Advice would be appreciated.
