Oh yes I did get your viewpoint when you said about driving in synch. with another driver at the same speed on the highway.

But I was referring to a specific condition that exists in India. Up to now we mostly had unfenced highways and with lots of cross road junctions. OK I know you don't call this a highway in the real sense. I do plenty of highway driving and the one major problem is that of people / cattle crossing when you least expect. Add to this the odd pothole. So in this situtation you are more comfortable when you have a full view of the road in front rather than the rear side of another vehicle. If he suddenly pulls up, then your time to react is that much curtailed.

Driving on the highways here is no easy task and will demand all of your skills !
