#75531 - RE: re-programmable chips
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi MK,

I am about to purchase a few Atmel AT89C55WD-24PC microcontrollers

Why buy a chip that is not ISP [ In System Programmable ]. AT89C55WD is an 8052 compatible with 20KB Program ROM & WatchDog [ WD ]. I am not sure weather Atmel has declared AT89C55WD unfit for new designs. But I would personally suggest you to not to use a non ISP chip like AT89C55WD. Use some ISP chip instead such as AT89S53 which comes with same features and 12KB program ROM. In terms of cost as well there is hardly any difference among the chips. You can either use ATMEL ISP cable or make one your self. Here is a link to one such ISP adapter.
