I have found that if you treat any port pin as an open collector with a weak pull-up then you can quite happily use devices such as the DS2433 which uses parasitic power as long as you use it in conjunction with an external 4k7 pull-up at normal operating speeds without any 'absolute disasters' occuring.You can use it without the external pull-up but it tends not to work which is a bad thing.
