App Note 148 is definitely the one you should read first, as it specifically sets out to address errors & misconceptions which appeared in earlier App Notes, and other published & unpublished sources!

Once you have read App Note 148, you should understand the pullup requirements of a 1-Wire network. With this understanding, and the datasheet for your particular 8051 variant, you should be able to determine:

A. What pullup is necessary for your particular application;

B. Whether the IO structure of any particular port pin on your particular 8051 derivative meets the requirement determined in A.
