My interest in his nationality comes from the fact that a friend of mine went wild pig hunting in a country where Pomutz is a possible last name.

Anyhow, I think that the nationality can have a great importance when answering, beyond "where can I buy xyz". For instance, I would not hesitate to suggest to a US resident to use some 'rare' chip, but if the poster lives in e.g. Afghanistan, I would go through more of an effort to come up with a solution using "resistors and diodes".
