I would recomand to use NOKIA 12 modem with build in PPP stack for GPRS conectivity. It has JAVA virtual machine inside, so, biger part of protocol can be handeled inside NOKIA12. You can use RS232 to connect your controller to Nokia12, and simply send data to it. Everything else will be handeled by this module. Look at www.teltonika.lt for such solution. It is named T-BOXN12. This is ready to use module with Nokia12 inside. :)
