#77435 - RE: Posting code and meaning of gimme code Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The issue of "giving code", indeed a contentous one. What is help and what is Givve is very subjective. If someone post a code snippet to explain a point, it can hardly be considered "givve", but if - in order to use Micahels expression - the whole program is spoon fed to the poster, I, for one, would consider that a "givve". The frequency of "gimme" requests do, indeed, show that a number of people out there would like to have their work served on a silver platter. Some of those that maybe do not posts "gimme"s still want it (just look at the positive karma given to spoon feeding "givve" posts).
Are we to educate or to give code? both would be considered "help", but which will make the next generation able to take over from us? Again "gimme" and "givve" is subjective, but can anyone mention ANYTHING in the karma ratings that is not? Erik |
