how about USB?, it's the wave of the future ;) ... That object which you are squiniting to see that is approaching you in the distance is Craig Steiner coming at you with a lighted torch and pitchfork. :) fastforward 10 years .... the users might not recognize a serial port if they saw it ... and, easier to plug in and out ... This wouldn't be for the typical user or consumer product. This would be for specialized applications and special users amd/or developers that need convenient interaction with specialized devices periodically but not frequently enough to justify an LCD/keyboard/keypad on every unit. Unless USB is as easy as MOV SBUF,A in 10 years many specialized applications are still going to need an easy way to communicate--if even for diagnostic purposes. Regards, Craig Steiner |
