#8114 - RE: Lots of power needed |
Cory,
Since these are 8x8 matrix LED modules, I'll it will be a 1/8th (13%) duty cycle. If 1/16th (7%) duty cycle would work, but the constant current drivers only seem reliable at 80mA and that may be too dim at 1/16th. The original power calculations (that you corrected, thank you) were based on average per light. From what I understand, you should multiply the column current by the multiplex factor. This give a normal average current. The drivers I'm using are: Column driver...Toshiba TB62705CF Constant current drivers with sync'd serial in, 8 bits out. Row Driver...International Rectifier IFR7304. These are Dual P-Channel Mosfet devices that can continually source over 5 Amps. Each module (32x16 pixels) will have 16 TB62705CF and 8 IFR7304. With this, I'm driving 8 2.3" 8x8 Multicolor displays from PARA-Light (A-5880SRDSG). All this stuff is amazingly expensive. <>< Lance. If you drive at a relatively low duty cycle with a current of 5mA, the LEDs will most likely be barely visible. We still don't know how you plan on multiplexing the pixels. |
